Goldman Sachs SA Background Check Process

Hi all,

I recently interviewed at GS for Summer Analyst position and got the offer. However, I am now in a process of background check and they are asking me to submit unofficial school transcripts. I made a mistake and forgot to take out my GPA while applying as it is below 3.0 and I am afraid they might rescind my offer. Can anyone share their experience or advice how can I proceed with this situation? I know I made a silly and huge mistake and I am thinking if I should be upfront and honest about it. Anyone knows how GS **outsourced* *Background checking company reviews transcripts ? Or if people fake their academic transcripts?

Here's a hard rule that you must never break: Don't EVER fake anything on your resume or documents when applying to jobs, because your potential employer will always be able to find out your true grades/GPA, whether you were honest or not. Better to be honest and upfront about it, they will appreciate the honesty.

Yes, I can be honest about it I do have explanation for my low grades. I am just afraid that since it is below 3.0 does Goldman really care about GPA ? Tbh offer is for back office , not some IB

In that case, if it's not for investment banking, then it it will most likely not matter as much, but it's good that you have an explanation, because they will most likely ask about it.

If you fake a transcript and they find out, you will be fired. If you had the GPA on your resume before you lied, and did the application not too long after grades came out, you could use that as an excuse and I dont think the third parties that do the application tell the company if it within .1 of the reported GPA
