Goldman Sachs Sales & Trading Summer Analyst Internship
Has anyone done this internship? How competitive is it (acceptance rate) and what do you think were the major reasons why you were accepted?
I am doing a MSc in Computer Science program at a target school, but have only a 3.1 gpa. I'm in my late 30s with about 10 years' experience as a web developer. Is this internship even open to me?
Thanks in advance.
little to no chance hurry up and apply to prop shops
okay, since someone SBed me, ill actually list reasons
you see, banks are more pedigree- they want young analysts sure you can probably trade better than they can, but the fact is that these analyst programs are structured for people younger than you
the prop shops, if you're qualified, look more for performance rather than superficial things like your age, or maybe even GPA

Actually even for prop shops he'll be limited. GPA is not a perfect indicator of success but the different in mindset and work ethic between a 3.1 and a 3.9 is very distinguishable.
limited, but still a better chance there than at the BBs
I got a suggestion to apply to a summer associate internship. Would that be a better option? It seems associates are older than analysts.
to be honest i'm not 100% sure, maybe someone with more experience can say i've never heard of associates being past the age of 35 in general that said, if you're still in an academic program, i don't see how i'd hurt to try
I've heard people say that it's your technical skills that count the most. So, even if my programming skills in C++, Java, Python, etc. are superior to younger applicants, it still won't matter for a S&T internship?
What if I have also been trading my IRA portfolio since 2000 and have had good returns that I can prove?
