Grade on CV for summer analyst
I’m at a UK target and got a 2:2 in my first year, but I still want to apply for summer internships in the UK this year. Since they all require a minimum 2:1, can I state that I’m on track for a 2:1 on my CV and hope they will consider my second-year grades?
Does your first year mark have any weighting towards degree classification? I got a 2:2, because my degree counts 0% in first year and I was min-maxing my effort with other stuff. I am still going to put predicted 1st.
When I accepted my summer '25 offer they did not ask for a transcript or any grades, so I think you should be fine till FT recruiting. Don't lie though, just don't put your first year grade on CV.
In similar situation, did no one care about it being a "predicted" first? Did you explain what that was in 4.0?
no one asked about my grade or even asked for a transcipt
Really? Was this at a BB?
MS/GS/JPM
take with a grain of salt because I was a spring convert
During the background check they will review your CV against your transcript
If you feel like saying "on track for 2.1" is a lie (which it probably technically is), you could just say "2.1 expected", and if they ask about the discrepancy say you're going to improve next year / were very busy with social stuff during first year (any story that makes sense really).
Based on the most helpful WSO content:
Given your situation: - Stating Predicted Grades: You can state that you are on track for a 2:1 on your CV. This is a common practice, especially if you believe your second-year grades will improve. - Honesty and Transparency: Ensure that you are prepared to discuss your first-year grades and your plan to achieve a 2:1 in subsequent years during interviews.
