GS Banking and Beyond?

I applied for/got invited to attend the Goldman Sachs Banking and Beyond event, but I'm not really sure what to expect. Has anyone been before? Is it going to help in recruiting or is it just another information session?

The only reason I'm contemplating whether or not I should go is because it's about a one hour drive..in the middle of finals week. Still worth it?

I understand your pain. I had to interview with with a BB on a day where I had two tests and a project due. Albeit they came to campus to see me.

Weight the Cost vs Benefit here

Benefit

-networking, easy networking -return of investment might be higher (if u don't care about your grades or are a senior) -might be the chance of a lifetime

Cost

-might harm your final grades (might not) -networking but no bazooka (they still might extend you an interview invitation) -if you want to grad school, poor grades will screw you (unless you save a third world country)

this list is no how conclusive there are a MYRIAD of variables. Good luck in your decision making.

man, if you're not interested in operations forget about these GS diversity events. they're just padding their "diversity" resume and couldn't give a shit about you. at best they really want you to go to salt lake for 43K. at worst they'll interview you and not even bother to get back to you despite wasting your fucking time and money chasing them around.

apply with everyone else and they'll take you more seriously.

definitely don't get a bad term grade over this. i learnt the hard way.

I definitely think its worth it. Network is the way to go - it opens up so many doors!

If you really need the grades and you're from Ivy - you could probably skip this one?

Use your diversification advantages to its max?

i'm from a semi-target, GS recruits here pretty hard though. i did apply on OCR along with everyone else, but I don't know, could going to this really do me much good? I definitely don't want to do operations..
