GS OPERATIONS > DB CITI IBD / S&T??
1) Would you ever choose GS operations over a front office offer like at DB etc? 2) I really didn't want operations, but operations had career drop at my school while ibd/securities didn't. The HR girl told me to just apply on their website for other divisions. Does applying on their website = same chances as career drop? Or did I just completely waste my time and can only get operations at GS because of career drop?
I probably wouldn't take gs operations over ibd offers at other banks, but wanted to know how bad of an idea is it?
waste of time. front office > back office
I think it's a great idea. It's definitely worth doing.
What about gs operations vs boutique IBD (for an internship), assuming you eventually want to make it to IBD?
The answer is never operations.... You're 100x more likely to land at IBD in a BB from a MM/boutique than from operations at a BB.
You may as well wear a scarlet letter... Back office folk have a stigma attached to them. Do meaningful work at a MM/boutique then make the jump
Any front office job, regardless of BB/MM/boutique > GS operations.
back office= jersey shore cast members
-1 rating for my comment? Someone doesn't appreciate sarcasm and/or is having a bad day.
Also, OP shouldn't even be asking question 1, it's a no brainer and has been discussed ad nauseam.
