Half a page cover letter (SA)

Hi, currently applying for summer analyst positions (for IB and other) and was wondering if keeping my cover letter to a little over half a page was fine. I can write more if need be but I feel it's kind of a waste of time and would rather firms take more time on my cv. Any insights ? (bearing in mind this would be UK/Europe)

If you think you cover all bases well in just over half a page then that's fine. The shorter, while saying the same thing, the better.

Chances are it won't be read, but it also might be.

On an actual letter, the address (yours and theirs) + greetin takes up like 1/4-1/3 of the page anyway. I'm assuming you haven't added the addresss bits etc so really you're within the normal 1 page guidance anyway.
