Has anyone rescinded their FT IB Offer?
Has anyone here previously rescinded an offer in IB? Curious to hear what the process was for you and whether there were any drawbacks to it in terms of finding future jobs within the industry.
Also would love to know if there were any clauses in your offer letter that forced you to return the signing bonus back to the firm? Did you actually have to pay it back or is it small enough where banks don't really care?
Thanks
For context, I have an offer from a very well known crypto token that I have very high conviction in that it will do well. My salary is also significantly higher than IB (base) and don't mind giving up the bonus since I enjoy this industry way more. I signed the offer after my SA but really started getting interested in crypto through my senior year. I successfully networked with a few people and was offered the job.
My contract explicitly mentions that I have to pay back the signing bonus if I leave before a year. It's a pre-tax amount but you get the tax refund so it nets out to the amount you actually received.
Good luck with that one
You for sure have to return the signing bonus - you didn't even work a day at the firm lmfao. Your contract likely states it would need to be paid back, pre-tax.
