Haven't heard back after 2nd round interview -- should I email them?

Hey so I had an interview in NYC right before Hurricane Sandy hit. I was told I would hear back the following week. Then the hurricane hit NY/NJ on the Monday of that week so I figured they would get back to me the week after (this past week), but still nothing! The office I interviewed at is in a badly hit area, but from what I gather their employees have been back at the office for over a week now. So I'm wondering what I should do next? I was thinking of emailing HR in the middle of this week, if I still haven't heard back, and asking them the status, is this a good idea? Normally I wouldn't worry too much, but the HR contact that interviewed me during my 2nd round interview said they get back to candidates very quickly and I should be hearing back within a few days.
