Hedge Fund Interview - Final Stages
I am interviewing for a hedge fund analyst position with a PM who manages a $1bn book - I will be the only analyst and needless to say I am thrilled by the opportunity. Yesterday we went over my case study and HR called to say that the PM really liked me and that I am moving forward to meet with an Associate Director of Research. If that goes well, I take some kind of "assessment" (Calipers? It sounds like a personality test) and then they'll check references.
Of course, this sounds like I am almost there and after all of my hard work thus far, I don't want to lose this now. I spoke to a friend at an HF and he said yes, people can in fact get dropped at this point! Any tips you could pass on regarding the end stages of HF interviewing would be helpful.
Thanks! Unfortunately everyone seems to stop their advice at the case study stage... M&I hasn't been helpful on this specifically.
That's because there's nothing else to tell you. HR already told you wants going to happen, sounds just like any other interview.
You're doing well and it's good news the PM likes you. It's just another interview - don't think there is anything special about the final stages of HF interviews, just prepare and be confident. Also, nobody can say what the assessment will exactly be, but it probably won't be as intense as a case-study. Don't let the nerves get to you.
