Help a nontarget: am I out?

Hey,

So I applied to M/B/B some BBs, and an elite boutique - all a while ago. So far I've heard back with one of MBB and am interviewing with another one. No one else has gotten back to me.

I go to a non-target so we don't have regular deadlines. I'm wondering if, based on how many people are getting interviews/ contact in other schools, if a firm hasn't gotten back to me at this point it means i'm waitlisted/ out of consideration.

P.S. I'm well qualified and have been to events/ interviews with each of these firms before. I applied really early (almost 2 months ago) and at the time got responses from hr at most of the places.

Thanks.

If you don't reach out and try to work other angles, you are as good as finished.

That said, it's still possible. I applied to MBB all over a month ago, but I only have contacts at one. I casually and carefully told them both I applied, asked for advice, whatever. Their firm made a push to get non-core school recommendations a few weeks ago, and my contacts recommended me, so I got the first round interview. The contacts were crucial.

Then after that, I emailed two recruiters from another MBB firm and said "I just finished first rounds with X, and I thought it strange I haven't heard from you". 8 hours later, I got an invite from them.

Be creative and pleasantly aggresive.
