How big of an advantage is being a D1 athelete?

I have the opportunity to join the crew team, the program is top 15 ranked in the NCAA, would go compete in the Henley Regatta etc.. However, I think I'm sick of the sport and it is seriously negatively affecting the quality of my life. I am still trying to make this decision in the best interest of the long term.

So as a non-target who will probably graduate from the finance program with a 3.5gpa, could something like this be my saving grace?

hockey1316Yes it will but the length of your time as a D1 athlete is not important (3 vs. 4 yrs). If you can take a year off or so then do it. I did it my first half of junior year and it did wonders
This could be key for me. Maybe I will join the team very late in my college career. This decision has been killing me but I really don't want to face 5am wakeups 6days a week at this point in my life. I am a weak man.
