How many of your networking calls are awkward?

Have recently joined as a first year and already had the chance to start talking to students who reached out mostly from non targets. Out of the 6-8 students only 1 was able to have a normal conversation and the others just kept asking directly for referrals or just seemed like they couldn’t all about anything besides finance . Are your calls with prospects much better in terms of %?

Jesus, I have would never ask for a referral from someone I just had a networking call and especially if I was from a non-target school lol.

Sometimes the call goes well and I have been referred to before without asking but I would never flat out ask unless I knew them personally…

A lot lmao. I get called by students from Washington / Mississippi and shit and I let them drive the convo and it always end up in them asking canned questions
