How to hurry up a job offer

Hello monkeys.

Today I got a first interview in a well respected local company here in Chile for a job in Investment Banking. The problem is that on Monday, the MD of another company will have an interview with me for (probably) give me a job. The thing is, what can I do to hurry up the interviews with the local company and also ask the MD to give me a couple of days while I'll see if I get another offer? Is it ok to ask for a couple of days because I'm in other processes? What happen if the MD only gives me one day? am I screw?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you get the offer, you can try to get the other firm to hurry up by letting them know when you have to give an answer by. Generally, you'll have a couple of days to make your decision, and there's no guarantee that you get the offer the same day as the interview (although that is generally the case). Also, you don't even have either offer in hand yet, so I would stop worrying about hypoteticals and start worrying about the interviews themselves.

Good luck!

Hey thanks.

I had the interview today and I got the offer. So far so good, I'm just curious about what the local company could offer me, but if it's the same, I stay in the first one.

Congratulations! Glad everything turned out fine for you.

How did you land the interview?

It was in one of the Big4. They offer an analyst position through out campus recruiting.

it's a good problem to have, competing job offers in this market is an achievement.

it is definitely a testament to your abilities. good luck on your first job OP.

i'm not smart enough to do everything, but dumb enough to try anything

It would be super tough to go through a final round by this Friday if you haven't even applied yet.

Depending on the offer you have and what else you'd like to apply to, it might make sense to keep recruiting after accepting the offer. There are a lot of considerations to take into account before reneging though, and it definitely is not something to take lightly.

If you've had this offer for 2 months, why are you only reaching out to other places you'd like to work now?

Unless this is a boutique without a dedicated HR function, if you haven't heard by now, it's a rejection or on hold. Considering HR is replying to you, I'm assuming hold. Don't hold your breath either way.

this is an elite boutique's satellite office with 1 HR person for this particular group.

If this is a small group within an elite boutique with one HR person dedicated to this particular group, and it is late in the recruiting season (full time), does this mean they can afford to take their time?
