How to network if you don’t live in the US or Europe?

I am interested in pursuing a career in Investment Banking, but I have a problem: I am neither from the US nor from Europe, I am from Egypt.
What I understood so far is that networking is essential to get an internship and/or a full-time job at a BB.
I know that there are other problems (e.g. Work Permit) but, ignoring this one, my problem is networking. Is it possible for me to get an internship in the US, Europe or UAE?
