How to Suss Out Your Prospective Employer?

This is something I didn't pay enough attention to when moving to my current job (so much did I hate the old one). That said, it hasn't hugely backfired...let's say, failed to live up to expectations.

So, for others out there, and for my next move, what questions should one ask? How do you figure out if your MD is here to build the business, or chill out? Can you ever really get an honest answer on internal politics?

It's a hard ship to sail as you don't want to piss them off too much, but at a point, they're trying to sell you and much as you to them.

Cheers, have a great weekend - I'm in the office.

I mean, I'm sure it's different for buy-side because it's a much smaller world, but for me when I did SA/FT recruiting, I always asked alums in the industry who've mentored me through the recruiting process about what they thought of my choices.
