How to Switch from Market Research to Finance... Impossible?

I graduated from a target school with a decent GPA but in 2009... when the economy was really bad. Since graduation, I began working at a market research firm but I am really disliking my job and would like to get back into finance. I've had some internship experience in finance, including one at a bulge bracket ibank in S&T... However, due to the fact that I graduated in 2009, I decided to switch fields, probably a really bad idea. Because now all the jobs in finance seems to require either finance experience or want fresh graduates...

Do you have any advice on how I can get back into finance or is a Masters the only solution? I'm thinking of a Masters in Finance... as I really don't want to work a few more years in market research before getting an MBA. But I'm not sure how useful a Mfin is...
