HR asking for name of other processes

I’m in a process with one of the platforms coming from PE. There is also another process I’m a part of that is being accelerated, so I asked them to move forward the timeline. The recruiter (internal, not HH) keeps asking me which firm and exact seat my other process is with.

Since I’m new to the HF world, is that normal and what are they trying to get out of me assuming people don’t usually tell them? And what would they do with that information even if I gave it to them?

Thank you in advance!

I would keep it vague and if they keep pushing, say you don’t want to risk the integrity of each process and are keep their name under wraps as well.

Or you can just lie and make up a process with another fund to get them off your back.

For my most recent job, I really wanted it and a few roles had already fallen through. So I decided to put pressure and said please let me know as soon as you can as I was expecting an offer. Their HR asked and I told them the name of a good bank and said they had asked me to keep quiet about it but I “trusted” HR lol. Who knows what diligence they did, but I got the offer a few days later.
