Huge Referral or Polite Rejection?
I got this from a JPM / GS / MS PWM Managing Director:
"Thank you for sending me your resume. Even if, regrettably, I do not find the need on my team for someone with your notable qualifications, I have forwarded your credentials to our managers for a broader search. Should there be an interest, they will contact you directly.
Thank you once again for contacting me. I wish you much success in your promising future."
Expect the worst but hope for the best. The skeptic in me says it's a polite rejection, but it's always possible that something could come of it. Just keep hustling both that route and start making others. Good luck
you know him more than us, but it seems to be a polite rejection (while acknowledging that you are good enough to get that position at another firm)
I've received a similar message every time I've been flat out rejected. I usually have great interviews, but get dinged for not being inexperienced, being a non target, etc and it's a polite rejection saying that you did a good job, but don't necessarily "fit" what they're looking for in a candidate.
Echoing sentiments from above. It's a polite rejection, but there's an outside chance that something will come of it. Just cross your fingers (but don't spend too much time thinking about those crossed fingers!) and hope for the best.
