I Quit.

This most likely isn't the best introduction to WSO, but I have been a reader for some time and am looking for advice going forward.

So here is the situation... I began an unpaid internship toward the end of March at a boiler room--- I mean a boutique Asset Management firm. Under the guise that I would be sponsored for the Series 7 exam upon completion, I started with clerical work and continued with clerical work until I was instructed to cold call leads predating Y2K. After surmising that neither my soft skills nor my network would benefit from this unpaid position, I had just about had it. The coup de grace was when I was cut off in mid sentence and told to focus on my work in an attempt to explain the price action of a particular position that they were puzzled over. I decided to leave on the spot, as I would otherwise be calling twenty year old leads for another month.

The experience was not completely bad, and I feel that I developed in some ways because of it. Would it be out of the question to leave it on my resume/ LinkedIn? It may be worth noting that I am a freshman at a semi-target school with okay (3.3-3.6) grades.

Thank you all in advance.

Follow up question, is it fair game to discuss in an interview? Or should I just leave this experience in the closet with the skeletons?

You haven't gained any insight & never ever bad mouth a former employer, manager, team, group, class etc.

Instead reflect on the whole situation: figure out what you are willing to do at work (type of structure), who are the type of people you want to work with/for (team environment, silo, authoritative direct/indirect), and if you missed any red flags in the interview process regarding culture etc... or if you just didn't perform due diligence before joining.
