IB Interview Structure?

I’m currently a bit unclear about the way interviews work for IB. I’ve heard interviews start in the spring of sophomore year.

At that point I would’ve taken maybe a handful of finance related classes, a few semesters of uni and done maybe 1 internship at most. I am wondering, how do interviewers determine who to hire for junior summer based on this?

Ah, the mysterious world of IB interviews! It's a jungle out there, but don't worry, I've got your back.

Interviews for IB typically start in the spring of your sophomore year, that's correct. At this point, you're expected to have a basic understanding of finance concepts, which you would've gained from your finance-related classes and any internships you've done.

Now, how do interviewers determine who to hire? It's a mix of things. They look at your academic performance, your understanding of finance concepts, your internship experience, and your overall fit with the company culture.

But here's a secret tip from your favorite monkey: the key to acing these interviews is preparation. The WSO Academy offers a range of resources to help you prepare, including the Investment Banking Interview Prep and the Financial Modeling & Valuation 2-Day Bootcamp. These resources will help you understand the intricacies of finance and excel in your interviews.

Remember, the goal is to be a rock-star candidate. So, keep reading, keep learning, and keep practicing. Good luck, my fellow monkey!
