I don't think there's already a forum on Goldman's 2019 IBD Summer Analyst recruiting process, so figured I'd start one. Please share insights/questions below! Is anyone else recruiting through the accelerated timeline?
Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst Timeline
It seems like the recruiting cycle starts earlier every year. While there’s no guarantee that the next year’s cycle will follow a similar pattern, here is what WSO community members have reported for 2019 SA positions.
Early Action (applications closed May 15th)
- HireVues: mid to end-April
- Superdays: invites sent out early May, Superdays held mid to end-May
- Offer decision deadline: September 1st
Regular: (applications opened July 1st)
- HireVues: early to mid August
- Superdays: invites sent early September, Superdays held mid to end-September
- Offer decision deadline: TBD

Anyone got a hirevue yet?
I recently attended an exploratory event in the NYC office and was told that superdays begin in the month of May and that HireVues are released on a rolling basis up til superdays
I have heard people have already secured SA 19 offers with GS... and I have also heard first wave hi revues were sent out a few weeks ago (ALTHOUGH: I think this may be for LA/CALI/SF) not too sure on NYC

My app status changed to Under Review a couple of days ago.

I have two friends that received SA offers for SF, just to confirm what you've heard. They had a super day around two weeks ago

Seems like a ding for Early Action but maybe they'll review it during regular decision? Not sure why they would say "your application is still under consideration" otherwise.

My NY app says "Selected for Interview", other locations still say Application Received. No hirevue email yet.

Does anyone know why these companies are recruiting and handing out offers over a year in advance? Why is it getting earlier every year?
Whenever I speak to HR professionals, they say that it's because all the banks are competing for top talent. But who knows, they may have other internal reasons we aren't aware of.
Interesting. There's probably some truth to that. Could also weed out the transfer students and those looking for an extra semester to pull up their grades.

What time did you get the email? My portal says selected for interview, but still haven't gotten HireVue email.
I haven't been checking my portal, so not sure when the status changed, but I got the email at 2:01pm.

It basically says something like Thank you for your application. We are still reviewing the applications and will be in touch if you are selected for a Hirevue interview blah blah

Does anyone know if this hirevue is for all divisions or not? While my IBD status says "selected for interview" and IMD is still under review but under it says you will only complete one hirevue for the recruiting season for all divisions so I am a bit confused.
From what I've heard, your Hirevue will have the behavioral, 1 question for IBD, and 1 question for IMD. If your IMD gets chosen for a Hirevue later, you've already done it. Basically just be prepared to answer an additional question for IMD now.

They're probably going to consider you for regular decision.

Yes. I first got the email from my campus recruiter that I'll be receiving a hirevue request that evening which I did, through email.
I got this as well, my IBD is under review but not selected for early round. so it might be for S&T (my second choice)
Update: Campus recruiter reached out, says the application portal thing is a glitch. Got selected for interview in the early action round.

Yeah, having the same issue as you. I emailed a recruiter and they said they would extend our deadline to complete the Hirevue since they're having technical issues.

It's really not in anyone's best interest to share the Hirevue questions considering they would be giving their competition a clear leg up on themselves.

The only way they'd share them is way later and it'd be of no benefit. Most HireVue's have a deadline after the invitation is sent. For JPM, I had two days to complete mine after the invite.

i heard the hirevue is mostly if not all behavioral. with that said, the JPM hirevue had the same questions for everyone if you were in North America

Didn't apply to IBD, but for IMD, I got 6 questions. You have 45 secs to prepare and 2 mins to answer

IBD is all standard behavioral.

Under my application portal, it says "selected to interview", but I have not received my email with a HireVue link yet. I am worried that I'd be missing out on the HireVue deadline in case a glitch has occured. This is for IBD 2019 in a non-NY, non-West Coast office
How long has it said that? My email took at least 12-16 hours to come after the portal updated. I would wait another day and then reach out to a recruiter.
Are all the questions behavioral?
I was told by a recruiter to prepare to pitch stocks
Applied for IB, GIR and SEC
SEC is often the one that asks for a stock pitch, but if you have an IB hirevue now I've been told you'll do the GIR/SEC questions now even if they recruit later. so yes, I might prepare for a stock pitch question, but it wouldn't be for your IB app
IMD has 5 behaviorals and one technical. Behaviorals are all weird situational questions.
Former GS IBD analyst here. Just wanted to say good luck to you all! I was pre-HireVue for my recruitment, but if anyone needs a piece of advice, feel free to DM.
@Marunouchi Jungle" Hey thank you!!! I was just wondering and had a question for you. When does GS start your background check once you are offered an SA position?
Do they ask for your transcripts right away or does this happen just before your internship happens?
I'm not sure if the procedure is still the same but after I got the offer, I received a packet from HCM with all of the documents and papers that I had to sign. I think I had to upload the transcript via online portal when I got the packet ( the packet had the instructions on it). Hopefully this helps!
what were the technical questions range-- anyone who did the hirevue and what were the weird situationals --
No technicals on the hirevue - standard behavioral questions on being on a team, complex task and how you approached it, etc.
Unfortunately I did not meet the timeline. Will there a second round sometime down the line???
I don't think there would be a second round for hirevues, but since you didn't complete yours and didnt get to be evaluated, you might be able to apply again when the july app opens. Should ask someone.
Are you referring to the early action timeline? If yes, there is a regular round beginning July 1st.

Got an email from IMD. Will hear back by May 11th and interviews will be at the end of May.
My GS hirevue said to, "Please complete your interview by April 26, 2018." Does anyone know if this means it should be completed before April 26th? Or can it be completed on the 26th as well?

The direct superday was only a thing last year. The kids selected were the top 1-2 prospects from the school and were selected by the recruiting teams from their respective schools.
Yeah that makes sense. Are they not doing that this year since the accelerated process is now open to anyone to apply?
What percent of people usually get the hirevue during the accelerated process? I know they're more picky than the normal process, but does anyone have any idea of what percent of people get it

Yep, the first wave of Hirevues were told superday invites would be released by May 4th.
Finished my Hirevue recently and got my Superday invite this morning! Pumped!

Yeah. It's monday and they said the 4th. GS HR is notorious for being on the slower side...but if it's not a troll, then better luck to me next time I guess

maybe he is a troll - but GS is quite secretive and they do somtimes have random superdays. it is also possible he may have other big offers so they are letting him have an early superday.
it is also even possible he knows a group very well/partner in a group very well - and this specific group is doing a superday potentially for people who have networked extremely well/have high up connections.
I do not think this is normal though. he did mention stock competitions though so I am not sure if he has an IBD or Securities superday?

Double check your GS portal - it should say whether or not you are being considered for the accelerated process.
