IB Prospects with Academic Misconduct ON TRANSCRIPT? Help ahhhhhhh
So, I messed up. Some background, I'm a current sophomore. I had a BB IB internship this summer (online now). I have a semi-solid finance network. I've got an ok GPA, 3.6-3.7
I cheated on a test, got caught. I went through the process, guess the COVID situation didn't change their lack of sympathy. I had some extenuating circumstances, they didn't care. The hearing outcome is both that I fail the class (harsh) and that on my TRANSCRIPT it says I failed the class because of violating the academic code.
I know this situation is bad. My mindset's gone from gunning for top-level IB or the like next summer to "I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do oh god." I messed up, this wasn't a good semester for me. But this shit is competitive as hell, I know. And this seems like an easy way to get auto-dinged from the best places at least.
My hope is that I can get an offer from my BB IB internship this summer, which isn't unlikely. I work my ass off the next two years of college. I don't have a goddamn clue what else though, or if even this is unrealistic.
Please be frank, but give me advice.
You already have the internship, you're fine.. Only when it comes up, you can tell HR that the professor thought you were cheating and that it was your word against theirs.
During your internship focus on developing a reputation for integrity, and then you can use that to your advantage when discussing this matter with HR.
ONLY BRING THIS UP WHEN ASKED.
In the future, if you plan on cheating, do it right. Think it through, weigh the pros and cons and what you might have to do in order to deal with the cons.

worst you can do is be FT at the bank you’re interning at.
the only time your transcript would come up is for FT onboarding background check. and even then Kroll may just confirm if you graduated and your GPA. they have to ask permission cuz of FERPA for transcripts but maybe you have to sign that right away I forgot. regardless I’m not sure they even go class by class looking at your grades. I doubt it would result in you getting your FT offer rescinded upon onboarding though, especially if you intern for 2 summers at the same bank.
this will come up again during MBA stuff if you do the 2+2 path but it will have been 6 years since the incident. you have to think about how to play it cuz you can’t say he said/she said and show remorse or you’ve grown etc. I’m not sure if it was just a he said /she said case but it seems like fucking up a kids life with no hard evidence. (again I’m assuming you’re not innocent as you said).
