IB SA in Europe lateral for FT in US?
Currently a penultimate year university student in the UK, and I will be interning in IBD at Citi/BofA/CS this summer. I am wondering how likely it would be for me to land FT gig in NY at a BB? If it is possible, do you guys have any recommendations as to what I ought to do between now and application time?
Reason for wanting to lateral is that I want to spend some time in the US before hopefully going to B-School in a few years time.
Short answer: If you're not a US citizen, I gather it's very uncommon.
Useful to know, thanks.
OP here. Just for context, I am currently on what would be a 3.8 GPA, I work part time (10+ hours a week) for a MM boutique, and I am the President of my university's investment club. I am aware that the FT recruiting scene is incredibly competitive, but I trust that some of the above may help move the needle...
Its not to do with quality of candidates, more so to do with sponsorship and work visa related problems. Firms will hire people who do not need to be sponsored to work and don't have a need for a work visa etc.
Why would you willingly want to work in a 2nd world country?
How about doing Associate rotation in NY?
If you are at American BB that should be possible. Sure, it is not permanent, but gives you at least 12 months, and slight possibility of staying longer if you perform/network well.
Very little chance but I'd love to too OP as well as every other Londoncel, our salaries are paltry compared to NY :'(
If you're at Citi, you might have the option to transfer to other Citi locations after your 2 year analyst stint. I know I have that option, and I'm in the states
