IB to Consulting
Which skills in an IB internship are transferable to consulting? A lot of people say consulting is a great exit opportunity from IB but the work in IB (financial modelling, valuation etc) seems very technical and only really applicable to finance. Is there anything that junior bankers could do that could be seen as useful for landing a FT offer in consulting? Like identifying synergies in M&A deals?
Not sure if others can chime in but if you work with MBB in a deal they basically do the same thing as IB but less technical and more corporate jargon-y. Doing market research and overview / finding transaction structure that work / strategic advisory on how to set up JV / macro trend impacting transaction timeline, etc. Basically similar thing, IB has more Excel while MBB is more or less all PPT. Just 2 cents working with them side by side.
Ah i see, thanks!
