If I am not in the US in March, would I miss most of lateral recruiting?

So due to some personal reasons, I will be out of the States till the first week of April. I haven't lateralled before but people tell me that most people who leave or change firms do it immediately after they get their bonuses so does this mean I will miss most of the opportunities?

P.S. Any advice will be helpful on how to deal with the current situation as well

Are you an analyst or an associate (assuming you are a junior banker)? Lateral hiring occurs year round based on group needs but it spikes around this time of the year for the reason you mentioned. If you're an analyst, sometimes there's a spike in the late summer for the same reasons.

I wouldn't say you're missing out on "most" lateral opp's, but certainly some of them. Also, if it's not something you can control (being out of the US), there's no point worrying about it anyway.
