Got some interviews coming up for some internships with Big 4 firms (Deloitte on Tuesday) My feelings for accounting are ambivalent at best though. On a better note, I have a meeting with a CFO for a large corp on Monday to discuss future employment options in IB, S&T etc. Since i'm still in school (semi-target, good gpa), an internship is what I'm looking for and this guy has mega connections with some BBs and countless boutiques.
With that said, what questions should I ask him in our meeting? B/c I still don't know a ton about finance, i'm sure there are specific questions I should be asking (don't want to sound like an idiot) ? I think i'm leaning towards IB b/c I don't want an observational. Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
You should ask the CFO about what their corporate finance department does. Are they active in M&A? How do they approach capital structure and financings? Going to work with him in an internship will be better for IB than accounting, if you aren't able to land an actual banking internship.
