Industry Conferences.

Is it worth attending industry conferences in finance? I am a current freshman, I know it's possible to get into them if you volunteer.

But given that almost everyone is a professional, and everyone is only going to network with other professionals, would people still talk to me?

Also, there are a few conferences in my region hosted by other universities that I'd be able to attend. Again, would people talk to you if you're not from their own school? While students are allowed, the attendees expect that they're from the same school.

I'm more than happy to go just for the speakers and presentations, as they sound pretty interesting. But would networking be possible?

yes. its a good idea to participate in these.

just make sure that you are able to get your face in front of them, get their contact info and keep in touch.

make sure you pay attention to their presentations and can discuss/ask questions about it.

although you are a freshman, attending this event may be able to give you insight on what type of career in finance or area of finance you'd like to pursue if u even want to pursue it after the presentation.

We're about to enter a Great Depression. Don't you want a president who's already dressed for it?

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.
