Initial Contact now... advice please

I've recently become interested in career in trading after taking a financial derivatives class in school and starting to read yahoo finance on a regular basis. I've compiled a list of a bunch of financial firms with equity and fixed income desks and MDs or whatever contact information I could find for each.

I'm looking to get an internship for this upcoming summer. I'd like to make contact but unsure as to what I should be going for at this stage in the game. If it were earlier, I would go for the making contact to add to my network and stay in contact with in hopes of them pushing my resume along or something along those lines.

However I feel it might be a bit too late to cultivate that kind of relationship at this point. Correct me if I am wrong.

So I was just wondering what angle I should take when contacting these people/firms. If you could give me an example of what you would say just to give me a jist of the direction you think would best suit my situation, that would be great.

Thanks guys!
