Intern about to lose a great job opportunity, need advice!

Hi, I'm nearing the end of a 6 month internship at a big bank in Zürich, Switzerland. The other day, one of the senior analysts who I have worked for over this period has given me a heads up that another girl and I are the only runner ups for a full time offer out of 7 interns. I have a perfect SAT score, 3.9 GPA from University of Geneva. I have been on point with my work, I'm working on getting my CFA and plan to get an MBA in the future.

However, the thing is that this girl, doesn't have as good grades as I have and has made some big mistakes in the past. She really doesn't deserve the job.The annoying thing is that this girl's uncle is almost an executive at the bank! I fear she is going to get the job not based on talent but based on connection alone! She has a real "daddy's little princess" mentality, thinks she can get whatever she wants. I don't know anyone who has as much pull as an executive in the bank..what can I do to shift the odds in my favor?!

Thank you in advance.

I'm going to be 100% honest with you.

You might not have a chance. Nepotism can easily be > hard work.

Just try to get everyone on board with you. Maybe have another executive pull for you. If you can get on one of the executive's side, when the other one is pulling for her, he could objectively prove you are a better candidate.

Sorry OP.

This dude is right, you may not stand a chance no matter how good you are, how hard you work, or what you do at this point. Only advice is to put your head down and grind it out. You won't win a political battle in this circumstance. Just take solace in the fact that you have a great resume, now a great internship, and over the long run, your hard work and staying hungry will put put you in a much better place (experience related, personal, and social) than someone who has to rely on Daddy's connections.

Although it was too late to get the full time job, I did get a senior on my team to get a VP to vouch for my work ethic to a recruiter at Credit Suisse. So, hopefully it all works out.
