Intern at Boutique Prop Trading Firm on Wall Street wishes he had something to do..

Starting 2nd week of unpaid internship at an equity shop on Wall Street. I am a recent grad who just moved out to NYC like 2 months ago. I can stay in NYC til end of August, unless I can find a paying internship. I have not really done anything other than a few simple tasks for the CEO, but the CEO did suggest to my supervisor that he let me come along on a Group Lunch later this week (fingers crossed). I attend the conference call at 7:30 AM each day, and that is about all I do. Since my internship is w/ institutional sales, I don’t really know what I should do everyday. Thus, I just study the firm’s stocks, CFA Level 1 Exam, or watch CNBC til 4ish then leave. Everyone has been friendly to me so far, and I have met one or two of the traders. I am eager learn as much out of this experience as I can. The CEO and the institutional sales people told me to ask them any questions I may have, but I don’t really have any.

I’m normally pretty sociable with the people around me, but my desk is in the research room, so I can’t really interact with the S&T people. Does anybody else have an internship experience like this? Advice on what to do during work.

I'm in CF and my exp is kinda like this. I'd just ask anyone if they ever need help. That's really all you can do...Oh, and network!

Here to learn and hopefully pass on some knowledge as well. SB if I helped.
