International Sponsorship Update - MUST READ.

Dear anyone who actually knows the answer,

I understand that there have been multiple forums and threads on this already and you may be saying not another thread, but this forum is really for people who actually work at the firm and can confirm this sponsorship issue. The current state of the economy and COVID situation NOT getting better despite the claimed vaccines which will take a while to actually implement have obviously crushed the job market and even more for internationals. If you can save these people time who are trying to prioritize, see the worth in networking for these firms (for 2021 recruitment only), and have an idea of which firms actually do, would appreciate any input.

From what I have seen on WSO, this is the update on the list as of now.

BB: GS, MS, CS, Barclays, DB, JPM(If anyone can actually clarify - shits been driving me crazy) EB: EVR, PJT, CTV, LAZ MM: No idea.

If you work at any firm, BB, EB, MM or even smaller boutiques and know answer, any input would seriously be appreciated. PLEASE COMMENT WITH SOURCE.

Odd - I received the pymetrics/hirevue at JPM NY and I'm an international at a non-target

You don't need sponsorship to do internships, you need it for FT employment. Assuming you have CPT though, I know some schools don't let kids use CPT for IB internships cause they want their students to be poor.

What's CPT? And are you suggesting that in my applications for internships in the US, I should have said I am authorized to work in the states?

CPT is automatic worth authorization for internships and work that's relevant to your major. So a finance/econ/business major is able to use CPT (at most schools) for IB internships and apply as if they have work authorization (which means checking that box in the application process). Definitely make sure with your career center/whatever relevant on-campus person that you are allowed to use CPT though, and that IB internship would work for it because there are schools that have retarded rules about it. Some schools don't let you use it until sophomore year and others have a very narrow and defined list of internships that qualify.

You can only use CPT while you are in school, and are limited to 20 hours/part time through the school year and full time during summers.

Can someone confirm if JPM is sponsoring or not for FT roles in 2021 (IBD)? I know someone who graduated 2019 and is now working in JPM IBD FT and a '21 student currently in the SA IBD class. However, numerous people on WSO have suggested that JPM won't sponsor for FT roles beginning '21 and their FT '21 role description even mentions "permanent working authorization in USA required." Seems pretty confusing that they would suddenly stop sponsoring for FT given that they have intl students in their intern class this summer. Thanks!
