International students in high finance

I'm a finance student faced with a decision –should I pursue a career in the United States or return to Brazil to work in finance? Keeping in mind that I do have more connections in Brazil and would be able to get a better entry level position . I am also thinking on the very long term.

Is it more challenging for international students, even if they attend target universities, to ascend the high finance career ladder( IB to Hedge Fund) in comparison to domestic students?
