Internship before FT

I've already signed with a company that I'm happy to be working for FT. I was just contacted by a shop (which I would like to work for in the future) asking me to interview for an internship. I believe it will be a good learning experience in a new location.

Now, my question is whether it is okay to pursue this opportunity? If I get the SA, am I required to let my FT company know? The dates don't clash, so that's not an issue.

I would be completely upfront with the intern company and let them know that you have already signed FT with another firm, and have to start by X (give yourself a week or so at least to decompress ahead of the new position). If they are fine with it, and you are fine with working until you start your new job, then by all means go for it. Most people want a little break, but if you want to build some relationships, gain some experience and plan to stay in touch for future opportunities, then go for it. Good luck.
