Internship Opportunity Freshman Summer

So my mom works in IB and has connections and was able to secure me an internship at a boutique bank in Seattle, Washington. My family lives there and I currently go to ASU and am a computer science major and, when eligible, will double major or minor in finance. So I am really keen on doing this internship to add an edge to my application in the future for bigger banks and also would be give me a better application for MBAs and for school transfer applications.

However, the conflict arises when my dad for some reason said that he thinks that it wouldn't be a good idea because usually you do your internship junior and senior year according to him and get a return offer. He didn't really go into detail when asked but just advised against it.

Do you guys see any reason as to why this would be a bad thing? As far as I can see, there are only massive pros.
