Internship/Job Prospects in the Silicon Valley

Hello,

I have been recently been accepted to a non-target MSF in the Silicon Valley (Santa Clara) and was wondering about the job prospects in finance in that area. I know that it is the tech capital of the world, but how big are finance firms there? I want to specifically work in ER/AM/HF so I'm not on the IB bandwagon like most people here are, so how are the chances in SV compared to Orange County (the location of the other MSF that I might attend). Having a bad UG GPA my goal during the MSF is to really hustle, network, and intern throughout the duration of the program so I want to put myself in the best possible location.

Lastly, does the proximity to SF make a difference or is that too far of a commute? I know that SF is the 2nd biggest city for finance jobs but I'm not too familiar with NorCal.

Thanks for the help.
