adgabber is a forum for advertising. If you like marketing go for it. Nothing wrong with going after your passion.

If you had to describe your ideal career, what would it be? (independent of the career description for an investment banking analyst)

Uh...I'm not really into marketing but I need an internship soon. What I'm asking is should I apply for a marketing internship if its the only thing or just use my time studying/working out/partying?

i'm kinda in the same situation. while the internship wouldn't be marketing, it would be pwm, i am debating on whether to bust my ass my junior year or whether to enjoy one of the last 2 years i have left by not interning during the year and hoping for the best for the summer. after all, i'm not sure how much year experience helps for the summer job. it definitely can't hurt, but i feel i can get interviews regardless. once i get the interviews, the year job won't matter, it will all be how well i handle myself.

Just take what you can get and make the most of it. At the end of the day, what counts is what you learn from the experience and how you can weave a story that points to becoming an investment banking professional.
