Interviewer ending interview early?

Trying to lateral into an IB analyst role and recently had an interview with a no name boutique. Job posting had no specific requirements for previous IB experience, just generic financial analysis knowledge.

VP responds to my application and wants me to elaborate on my current experience and “how much writing and financial analysis you do”. Detailed it in the email, get called in for a remote 1st round. Then the VP reschedules the interview three times through the week.

Finally get to the interview. Guy starts telling me about the firm and admits the position is open because the previous guy went to a larger firm. Says he wants to hear about my background and he will ask technical questions later. Asks me the “walk me through your resume” question. Started explaining my past roles and barely get the opportunity to elaborate on my current role and get interrupted with “I don’t think this is even worth continuing any further. We need someone who can write a CIM and handle clients day one. We need someone more plug and play. Thanks”. Interview ends 10 minutes in.

Are boutique interviews like this? Like you saw my resume and know that I don’t have a traditional IB background and was satisfied enough with my current work experience to call me for an interview. Why did you waste my time rescheduling the interview three times if you didn’t value my experience in the first place? Was  I really that bad or was this guy just a jerk?

I mean yes that guy is probably being a pretty big ass about it, you never know if a banker is being forced by HR to interview someone. He may have just been doing the bare minimum to screen you before he can tell HR that you are not the correct candidate.

Also, I have seen resumes that really try and spin non-relevant experience with a IB name. So, I would make sure your resume accurately reflects what you actually do in your current role. That will at least guarantee you don't get mad/ disappointed interview.
