Interviewing over the summer...

I have some friends who are graduating this year who landed full time offers at other banks while they were working as SA's in NYC. They were able to network and set up interviews at other firms, and had FT offers in their pockets by August. I'm hoping to be able to do this while working as an SA this summer, but I'm wondering if anybody on this board has experience doing this. Any tips or advice? Obviously contacting alumni etc. is the name of the game, but what about in terms of not burning bridges at your current firm? I very well might want to stay there full time after the summer, and it seems like constantly taking time off to interview elsewhere on the street might piss some people off..

The only thing I'd be worried about is your current firm as a SA getting the impression that you're already interviewing elsewhere. I really haven't heard about anyone interviewing until after they receive their FT offer. Then it's easy to get into other banks for earlier FT interviews.

Keep in mind that no matter how good you are as a SA, it's going to be much more difficult to land a FT offer if the bank has an indication that you won't be accepting and are already interviewing elsewhere.
