Is banking not suitable for me after all?

I recently interviewed with a small MM that just started having an internship position, but I got rejected within only 72 hours. When I asked the interviewer for feedback, I [luckily] got a response telling me they just decided to go with other candidates wither better GPA, experiences, etc. This was not the first IBD interview I had and every interview I had before I couldn't even get past the first round.

I've been active in the investment club, know a lot of people, read the Vault guide religiously (I understand every detail and just memorized it), and pay attention to the market.

Is my 3.55 GPA really too low?

And as far as work experience goes, I have finance and accounting experiences; I know that's not specifically IBD but know this: internships are designed to get you started on work experience, so how can they demand you already have work experience beforehand? All investment banks seem to demand interns who have worked in banking already, but that defeats the point of an internship. It just doesn't make sense.
