Is it OK to e-mail HR on the weekend?

The resume drop period for a position that I am interested in with a commercial bank closes tomorrow (Sunday). I want to send the recruiting contact (listed as 'recruiting consultant' so this is his job) a cover letter, but the bank did not make that option available on the recruiting website (and does not require it for the application). Is it okay for me to e-mail the recruiter my cover letter today, or will is piss him off like it pissed off James Gorman (http://www.businessinsider.com/james-gorman-morga…)? Alternatively, I could wait until Monday morning to send the e-mail, but it's technically after the application period has ended.

Thanks!

trailmix8its an email, it will hit his blackberry, if he has time he will look at it, if not he'll get to it on Monday. no one is gonna say "WTF he emailed it on sat? better make sure to not consider him for the job now".

this.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
