Is it possible for an Australian university student to do summer internship (Jun-Aug) in HK?

Hi folks, I have a question about summer internship in HK at an Asset Management firm.

For a student attending a university in Australia 10-week internship is generally longer than the vacation.

So the only way to participate in the internship is to take the next semester off? Thanks in advance
