Is there anyone who hasn't studied in the UK and isn't a UK citizen, but received a summer analyst offer from bulge bracket banks?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if there are any examples of people who studied in a different country, like Turkey or the Middle East, and were able to get an offer from London at the undergraduate level. Or are applications from such regions taken seriously?
Half of any London BB IB SA class are Europeans (or other foreigners) who studied in European universities. MEA is a bit of a different beast though, pretty rare to see people from unis there but does happen occasionally. Couldn't tell you the parameters around that.
Brexit was just 4 years ago though…
Anecdotally, more recent intakes I’ve seen seem to be more British/Irish.
aslannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Half my office is European mate
I mean from MEA
The bare minimum for MEA is to have a previous IB internship (maybe a globally reputable PE investing internship might do if the to-be-mentioned factors are in place); then also let your CV also reflect exceptional academic achievement that's somewhat similar to those who get into targets (like being highly ranked in your country's Olympiad, being the best graduating student of your undergraduate faculty, having a current CGPA number that reflects the highest possible score (5.0/5.0 or 4.0/4.0, etc.), etc. If all the above are in place—you can get in as a diversity hire—it's still a numbers game of course.
Without the above, you can also do something exceptional like have a great performance in the financial modeling World Cup as a MEA-university student.
Source: people I know who have fit some of the above-mentioned criteria & are in BBs today from no-name schools in MEA
more than 50% of people I have seen or worked with in top banks in London are from continental Europe. they speak around 2-4 languages (almost always their local language and English and Spanish or French) and had some decent internships.
Turkey is NOT middle eastern or Arab or none of that. It’s Balkan/eastern European European. Hayirlisi…
Technically yeah—but similar to MEA in its lack of target schools
