Is this a big problem?
I've recently sent a couple of cover letters out to some middle market and boutique firms, some required covers and some didn't, and when I went to go change it around to fit a different position I realized I spelled a word wrong, "analysis's" when it should have been "analyses". I'm wondering if this is gonna get me dinged if caught, not sure if I should withdraw apps and reapply. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes. It's embarrassing to anyone who knows and is reasonably sure of the correct spelling. Pull the apps and reapply. It's worth the 30 minutes/app for at least the top ten firms you are gunning for.
On the one hand this is an understandable mistake; on the other hand, it rolls off the tongue like a third grader spelled it. Not sure these will get you dinged, but I'm putting the odds north of 20-30%, and it's not worth the risk for the firms you care about.
