Is working in New York mandatory for success?

Thoughts on staying in Chicago for the lower COL and entering T5 business school later on? Everyone makes it seem like NYC is the only way to progress a career, is this true?

I would love to end up in a position like Damola Adamolekun, working in the restaurant space and in operations. I don’t see myself as a HF manager or MD in the long run.

Well the good thing is, there are some solid Food & Beverage groups in Chicago. From my understanding, HL is definitely up there.

Chicago is a much stronger city for corporate opportunities than I initially thought. Have a few MBA friends who went there for banking / consulting / corporate opportunities.

Los Angeles is also very similar. Loads of 'less well known' opportunities out there.

theres a bunch of big time chicago md's. The former mayor of chicago was in ibd in chicago. Chicago is a tier 1 city, unless youre going for partner in pe or pm in hf then you'l lose nothing career wise and gain immmensely financially.
