Job Offer: PM Assistant vs. Quant Research Analyst?

Need your advice, got three offers. Recent college grad seeking entry level opportunities in Asset Management. Longterm career goal is to become a PM. Really want to be in NYC but coming up short finding opportunities there, all offers are in Boston. Thoughts?

1) Portfolio Manager Assistant role at a top investment management firm based in Boston. Firm will sponsor CFA, great company to continually move up the ladder.

2) Quant Research Analyst at institutional research/advisory firm. Role was originally held by a person with 5 years experience, but firm willing to take on entry level analyst.

3) Research Associate in fixed income for one of the biggest mutual funds in the world.

A friend of mine used to be a finance journalist and after 4 years he quit an left to become the assistant to this big shot PM at a big mutual fund. 2 years later they both make the move to a smaller boutique where they have approx. 1 bln under management. after 3 years of being a junior pm and co-manager he was made pm. So its definitely possible to make the move. His assistant role was more focussed on reporting and so on. All three sound pretty interesting.
