Job posting on social media

So a friend was offered a job contract and my friend is pretty sure that he will sign off on the job offer, but my friend just wanted to check out if there are other potential job offers. My friends plan is to post on his Facebook wall that he is looking for a job. The Facebook profile of my friend is set to private. And no, my friend is not Facebook friends with his future boss or any other people at the new workplace. Is it safe for him to post that he is looking for a job, right before he signs off on another job? He has been warned about doing this, but he still thinks that it is an okay idea. And yes this is a serious question. Appreciate answers :)

This is, by far, the most intelligent thing I've read today. Please, tell your friend to do so, and report the results. Very interesting.

On another note, how will people know he's looking for a job, if his profile is set to private? I'm assuming friends, but then, if he's relying on FB to get a job, I assume his friends aren't in Wall Street circles, so no use there. The intelligence of people these days - your friend's and yours.

Ok, he posts it on his wall. His friends will see it. Are they bankers? Are they consultants? Are they corporates? Or rather, are they anyone who can give him an offer better than the one he has? Or can they refer him to someone who might have a job in mind, because they are in those circles? If not, then how can anyone else see that post, if it's private?!! And why the fuck would anyone fucking reply to some random kid and offer him interviews on fucking Facebook? Did you smoke weed when you typed the above shit?

LinkedIn was acquired by MSFT for $26B for a reason you know. Facepalm

Why not presume all the questions to potential interviews and post their answers too on Facebook while he's at it? After all, one ought to be a step ahead of the interviewer.
