Jobs with Good WLB with Minimal Travel
Hi,
I am currently an analyst 1 at a BB in the Financial Sponsors Group where we run the LBO models. Throughout my first year, I've realized that working any more than 50-60 hours a week isn't really my cup of tea. My work-life-balance in my coverage group is honestly pretty good (60 hours), but looking on a more long-term basis with VP's and up on the road and flying multiple times a week, I realized that I won't be able to match that lifestyle. I also have pretty bad motion sickness and dread flying so I know I won't be able to work in private equity, consulting, or be a life-long banker.
Therefore, I'm looking for a discussion on exit opportunities that work slightly less than banking (50-60 hours) but also have minimal travel. I've heard that the Private Credit industry doesn't really travel and could potentially work less than IB but there's been mixed reviews. The hedge fund industry may also be viable but since I am in the sponsors group I mainly work with the private markets and may not have as many transferrable skills. Ideally, I would want to continue to work in an investing type job and not something like F500. My main qualm is with flying and that I would absolutely hate flying more than once a month for my job.
I appreciate any insight anyone may have on the lifestyle of the Private Credit industry or hedge fund industry and I would be interested to hear of any other jobs that could have the lifestyle with minimal flying that I'm looking for. Thanks!
