JP Morgan Operations
I have a phone interview, 2 back to back half hour with regional mangers. Any idea what they'll be like and what type of questions. Thanks

I'm curious. How did you go about getting this phone interview?
Through some connections. Why do you ask? And it's a summer internship, forgot to put that.
I've been trying to get something in operations as well. Looking for a FT gig, but haven't had much luck. I thought you may have had a method that I haven't tried.
If they're half hour interviews and it is the first interview it should just be some basic background stuff about your resume. If it is operations I would mention that you pay strong attention to details and can handle criticism and deadlines. I've worked in Ops.
^ Probably because he thought you were interviewing for a FT position.
For the interview, know your resume inside and out and basic fit questions (strengths, weakness, etc.). Doubtful that you will get anything technical.
pm me. Just had it
JPM OPS interview (Originally Posted: 02/21/2010)
First and foremost, I am ready to be flamed by all but wanted to get some feedback before going into this, and possibly leaving this opportunity as a backup. I am still searching for a boutique IB internship for the summer but am still planning to go to this interview.
What do Operations recruiters like to hear? I participated in the IB risk competition etc. so they may not believe me when I say ops is my first choice, considering I applied to commercial banking and IB risk but got turned down even for an interview.
Should I be emphasizing things like (Good work / life balance, ability to add value & increase efficiency, likes to work on a team)
What is the best approach to this?
Thanks
All behavioral. Just convey your interest in the JPM and the people from the firm that you met and be able to be articulate in your knowledge of why you want to work for ops in that bank.
Know basics about JPM and be able to convince them ops is really where you see yourself down the line. The recruiters/interviewers just want to hear that you want to do ops FT and aren't just seeking the JPM name on your resume.
Appreciate the info.
The presentation recruiter (Diff from the interviewer) told us about people higher up with flexible schedules. I wanted to convey that this is something I wanted down the road.
Would it be looked down upon if I said "my father owns his own company and is able to have a flexible schedule and I want something in finance such as this, and see this opportunity in ops"
Im afraid that it may come off as poor work ethic.
I think if you have to question how appropriate that comment is, then you should not say it. behavioral interviewers always look for a reason NOT to hire you. I would just do without
