Junior at USC with
Hello Everyone!
So, lets cut to the chase, I am currently a Junior at USC with a Major in Sociology and Minor in Management Consulting. I have had two internships; one with a Hotel Investment Boutique and another with a Real Estate Private Equity Firm, also a boutique. I know the basics, due diligence, deal sourcing (wonderful cold calls), negotiation, basic excel modeling, and underwriting.
.
I know we all have to start somewhere and for me, I started at boutiques, but I know I can excel further, perhaps a middle-market, or even a bulge bracket bank. Soon, I will be interviewing again for perhaps what might just be for a middle-market or bulge bracket bank, and I would love to add your inputs into my arsenal of knowledge.
I don't know if being a Sociology major would benefit or hurt my chances with larger firms, but my question is whether if you have any ideas on how I can correlate my major to investment banking. For instance, such as how analyzing macro material to reach a micro conclusion can show that I have critical thinking skills.
I look forward to seeing all of your insights on this topic! Thanks!
