Junior Year is the best time?
Would it make sense to look for internship for the summer of your freshman year and your sophomore year? I find that although the junior year is the one that could secure a spot for a FT placement, it's very risky.

Career Resources
Having internship experience from your freshman and sophmore summer will make you more competetive for a junior summer internship. So yes, I would say it makes sense.
Your freshman summer should be spent in whatever finance related gig you can get, ideally sophomore is in IB and junior SA is setting you up for FT. Ideally start networking and looking as soon as is possible.
sooner, the better
